2020 MASS RACE WILL BE VIRTUAL ONLY.
***
Gdynia, Poland is prepping up for the World Athletics Half Marathon Championships to take place on 29 March 2020. The LOC team have just presented the official finisher medal for the mass race which is absolutely unique. Registration for the event is on with over 10.000 runners already signed up.
The freshly presented finisher medal is by no means standard. It is thick, precisely designed and crafted in a compass shape. On the obverse, you can see the recently revealed, colorful event logo. More interestingly, there is also a drop of amber – treasure of the Baltic Sea region – sunk in the face of each finisher medal. On the reverse, there is a contour of Poland with some spare space to engrave one’s name and race result.
However, the best is yet to come since the medal can be opened. Once you do it, you will see a working compass mechanism inside. Hard to imagine a better reference to Gdynia – ‘the city of dreams and sea’ and Polish window to the world.
