Welcome to a unique style of racing from Go Beyond Racing – a checkpoint run. You can think of this as a mashup between a trail race and an orienteering event. Not sure what that even means? It’s ok! For this race, runners receive a map at the start with ten checkpoints highlighted. You have 2.5 hours to get out on the trails and find as many checkpoints and get back to the finish by the time the course closes. The winners (male, female, non-binary, and team) are those who get the most checkpoints in the quickest time. Depending on the route you choose, you can expect to run between 7.5 and 10 miles.
There’s strategy involved. You can look at your map and decide which route you want to take. Wood your rather go up that steeper trail to get to the checkpoint or take a longer route so you can avoid climbing? Wood you rather get the checkpoints near the start/finish first or save those for the end, assuming you having time left?
You can decide to run this race solo, or to form a team. Teams can have 3, 4, 5, or 6 people. For the team category, all team members times are averaged and the fastest average time is the winner.
Be sure to click the correct Register button if you want to set up a team. The captain will register first and create the team and let the team members know the team name, then they can register and add themselves to the team.
