I paced this race (first time pacing a race)! This was a nice and quiet race since it’s New Year’s Day, so not many runners out! This was run along the river on the walking/biking path, so I felt like the course was pretty. There are a couple of hills, but they aren’t bad.
Whiskey, donuts, and pizza are advertised as a post-race fuel. We barely get 2 whiskey samples since they were less than a shot (maybe 1/3 of a shot?). We only received 1 donut, so I was disappointed. I don’t think the post-race party was back-of-the-pack friendly since things wrapped up very quickly.
This was still nice overall, and I’m glad I used this opportunity to pace my first race.

Pretty course / Lots of post-race food!

Races are all so very standard these days. You get a shirt, some bling at the finish, aid stations, and chip timing. This course has all of that (including gel and bananas at most aid stations) but where it really stands apart is the food after-party. Pizza buffet, all the donuts you can eat, and drinks.
The course itself is the riverpark, which seems to be the default course for a lot of Chattanooga races. No complaints, it’s a pretty course. But this course starts at the Wheland Foundary, which is NOT where most of the riverpark races start. This is the first time I’ve run from this end of the park. There were plenty of bathrooms, plenty of parking spots, and an easy in/out race venue for drivers.
This is one course I’ll be doing again next year.
