The Virgil Crest Ultras. Beautiful forest, big climbs and descents, and a course configuration conducive to connection. With an elevation gain upwards of 22,000′ for the 100, and ratio’d for the other distances, the course will challenge the toughest and most seasoned trail vets. It still Aint for Sissies.
A distinction of Virgil though, is that the terrain, although steep throughout, offers a less technical footing than nearly any other northeast event of its elevation grade. That is, the course isn’t a barrage of rocks and roots. If your quads, calves, and mind can handle it, you can run it. With liberal cut-offs, despite the elevation metrics, first-timers are just as likely to reach the finish as seasoned vets. Commit yourself to it, hang in there when the miles get rough, and 100 milers, just make it to sunrise.
P.S., although it never rained at Virgil, please be prepared for the possibility.
Whatcha Get?
In addition to the event running, all solo entrants who register before August 1st will receive a hoodie, finisher’s mug, sticker, post-race food. We will hope to provide the same for those registering after August 1st, but based on production lead time, is not guaranteed. 100 mile finishers will also receive a buckle. Relay team members will receive an event T (instead of hoodie) and sticker.
A portion of profits will be donated to the Virgil Fire Department, Finger Lakes Trail Conference, and clubs which support the event.
