A dream long… 100… Tuscany Crossing Valdorcia. Are you dreaming to race an ultra-trail in the sweet Tuscany hills?
The “Tuscany Crossing” is a path of 160/103/50 km in a of the most extraordinary UNESCO SITES, one of this unique places is Val d’Orcia with its unbelievable landscapes.
The course remembers the journeys of pilgrims that for centuries have traveled in this land that in Roman age connected Rome with the rest of its empire thanks the Romea, Cassia and Francigena roads. Val d’Orcia is rich of castles, fortifications and medieval churches where travelers, pilgrims, warriors and important persons same as Sigerico bishop of Canterbury found refuge.
To run the Tuscany Crossing 100 miles is as to “DREAM” to be one of these ancients travelers.The race “The dream long 100 miles” starts the 17th April 2020 at 5.15 pm. As the ancient travelers you will pass through woods, fords, vineyards treading and white roads. To reach Bagni San Filippo (famous for the “fosso bianco”), Bagno Vignoni with its water plaza, Pienza the city of popes, San Quirico d’Orcia, Montalcino the homeland of Brunello wine you’ll wade across the Orcia river, but it is still not over, now you will be only halfway,Sant’Antimo Abbey, Castelnuovo Abate and the long uphill to the Vivo d’Orcia with its fresh springs and its magical wood, Campiglia d’Orcia will be waiting for you and also the arrival to Castiglione d’Orcia.
There are also minor races: 103 km and 50 km…
The event will assign 6 ITRA points to the 100 miles, 4 points to the 100 km, 2 points for the 50 km to participate in the Ultratrail of Mont Blanc.
And the dream? At some point you just have to wake up, the competitors will have a maximum time of 34 hours to live, suffer, dream and then… honor and glory to those who will have concluded this wonderful journey!
The Val D’Orcia will still be there, it will still endure in reality, intact over the centuries and there will still be plenty of time to enjoy its never lost beauties!
