Trapline Marathon

The Trappers’ Running Club is pleased to offer our classic Woodward’s Marathon (a Boston qualifier!), as well as the popular Astaldi Half Marathon, Trappers 10km, 5km Youth Race, Kids Marathon, and Special Olympics 1km events.

The Trapline Marathon is a unique, heritage-oriented event that honours the many trappers that left North West River in the fall and trekked inland to tend their traplines. Each Thanksgiving weekend, runners travel from across Labrador, Newfoundland, Canada and even the United States to enjoy the beauty and community spirit of central Labrador.

The full marathon leaves Lester Burry Memorial Park in North West River and ends in Kinsmen Park in Happy Valley – Goose Bay at Kinsmen Park. The course follows route 520 from start to finish, using the right hand side of the road. This route is 61.5% flat, 18.4% ascending with a highest point of 60 meters above sea level and 20.1% descending. Runners are treated to plateau views between Spruce Park and the Canadian Side, Gosling Lake, Mount Shana, the Goose River and a nicely wooded country road.
