The only thing worse than your pace is your stroke count!
Upstate Ultra is proud to establish a scenic 2.5 Mile Loop around the Nature Preserve at Lakewood. The Ethos Project has recently purchased this 200 acre plot of land and placed it under a permanent protection conservation easement. A conservation easement is set of restrictions placed on a designated piece of land that prevents development or other substantial change in perpetuity. It is voluntary and unchangeable, and is designed to preserve and protect the property’s natural state. There is no water or power on site so please bring your necessary supplies. We will have an aid station that will supply runners with nutrition on course.
Back 9 Course Description
The course is held on a non profit land preserve just outside Greenville consisting of old cart path (paved) from a former golf course.
Elevation per 2.5 Mile Loop = 225 Feet

Camping & Personal Aid Station
Camping is an option this year for participants. There is a fee per vehicle that is included in your registration. You will be able to set up a 10 x 10 personal aid station along the course near the start finish line and the parking lot throughout the event. You will be able to set up your area prior to the race start or on Friday from 2pm to 6pm. There will be water at the aid station on site but no power so if you have a portable generator or solar lights that would be advised for overnight running. All runners must have a headlamp or flashlight during the night hours.
Aid Station
We will have a basic aid station at the start/finish line of the race that includes water, tailwind, soda, cookies, crackers, and other sugary fixes! We gladly accept aid station donations of food items that you like to see at races. Our staff is very busy with course marking, timing, packet pickup, and communication with runners. So much so that it does make it hard to prepare some amazing tasty treats in-between laps so feel free to contribute a little slice of heaven if you can! Thank you.
Personal Tent Set Up – Drop Bags
Athletes who are not camping are permitted to have a drop bag or personal tent near the aid station in the open field adjacent to the start/finish line loop outside of the barn under the 10 x 10 Green tents. Please be mindful to place your personal belongings off the course as to not impede the runners, the flow of traffic, or other race participants. The start and finish line loop will serve as the official drop bag area designation. When you are finished with your race please “pack in and pack out” making the host facility look better than you found it.
Eco-Standard
In an effort to be good stewards to mother nature we will not have any of the following items at ANY of our events. This is in an effort to reduce the carbon footprint being placed by endurance events throughout the world. Please have a cup or hydration bottle if you will need to consume water/nutrition during the event. Please bring your own fork/spoon for any post race meals. Please bring your own bags for items collected at the race.
