The Thanksgiving Day 5K Simi Valley starts at Rancho Simi Park and runs along the Arroyo bike path that is lined with beautiful trees for shade and runs through the center of Simi Valley and along the Arroyo Creek. This is still home to ducks and herons (AKA not cranes), who are soaking up the sun while playing in the gently flowing spring /summer time water.
There will be aid stations every 1.5 miles. All runners receive a custom finisher medal and race day tech shirt.

Packet pickup was the day before Thanksgiving in the parking lot where the race starts. Emails said packet pickup was from 3pm-7pm. Showed up at 3:15 and nothing was set up yet. We all had to pack our own swag bag. Advertised we’d get a “custom race day water bottle” but they were nowhere to be found. RD told us they didn’t show up in time. Also, no timing chip at all (which was advertised we’d get). At packet pickup when I asked where our chips were, he told me barely 100 people were showing up so they didn’t get them. The next morning? Different story. While it was very windy, that was the excuse given for why there was no chip timing. I guess they knew weeks in advance exactly how windy it would be that morning.
