Are you ready for the Central Valley’s SPRING Half Marathon, 10k and 5k events! Run or bike through picturesque trees and meadows on rolling groomed trails as you view beautiful vistas just minutes north of Fresno’s River Park Shopping Center at Highway 41 just past Avenue 14.
The Tesoro Viejo Classic Half Marathon will take you away from busy city streets to tranquil paths through some of the most beautiful SPRING scenery which rivals any run in the State.
Participants will run from the main community Hub at Tesoro Viejo around the circumference of the Valley’s newest community, over bridges, through tree lined lanes, to the kissing gate and around the lip of a majestic gulch which highlights the beautiful wetland preserves in spring. The course is mostly unpaved trails with rolling hills showcasing some of the most picturesque scenery around, just minutes from North Fresno! You’ll have views of not only of beautiful green pastures but of beautiful new homes located in the community. The half marathon has some mild hills where the 10k is rolling hills. The 5k is 90 percent on paved trails and stroller friendly.
This event supports the Tesoro Viejo Conservancy. The mission of the Tesoro Viejo Conservancy is to preserve land, protect wildlife, improve access to the San Joaquin River, and educate the public about the region’s natural resources.

Much more difficult than I expected. No map until packet pick up and no elevation guide that I could find. Paved at the start with continuous minor incline. Then we hit dirt (fine powder mixed with hard pitted / rocky). I’m thinking these were the fire access roads. Lots of hills. I literally felt like there was never a down, just up! Aid stations were plentiful and had porta potties (big plus for basically a trail run). One station ran out of water, but had electrolytes. No gels that I could find even though they were advertised as being available. Good medal, band, beer and cinnamon roll at the finish. Overall, it was well organized. I definitely prefer paved , so I will not run again, but would say “go for it” if you are a trail runner.
