Tennessee State Parks Running Tour – Tims Ford Deer Trail

The Tims Ford Deer Trail run is part of the Tennessee State Park Running Tour, the longest state parks running series in the U.S. It consists of 21 road races, of which two are trail races with distances varying from 5 to 13 miles. All races are held on Saturdays from October to March at 11 AM local time in 21 different State Parks, located from Memphis to Kingsport. These events are sponsored by local running clubs, which are responsible for registration, timing and results. The State Parks provide facilities, race security and traffic control. Walkers are welcome.

The Tims Ford Deer Trail run starts and finishes at the Recreation Lodge at Tim’s Ford State Park, Winchester. After start at the lodge the course loops behind the lodge and on to a trail that crosses the road and follow the picnic area down to the water. Follow the trail to a right turn on to Tims Ford Drive to the Rangers Station. Turn sharp to the left and right at the end of the parking lot onto Marble Plains walking trail. Follow the trail past the church to a turnaround at the overlook (mile 3). The same way back to finish at the Lodge.
