The Strawberry Stampede is an annual running event held in conjunction with the Arroyo Grande Strawberry Festival. We offer three separate races, a 5K Run, a 10K Run, and a 5K Walk. Race day registration and check-in takes place at the corner of Short Street & Nelson Street and opens at 6:45am. Tons of fresh, locally grown strawberries for all runners following race!
The 6.2 mile course starts and finishes in the Village of Arroyo Grande on Short Street behind the Swinging Bridge. The runners will leave the start/finish line and make their way out to Lopez Drive. A few small rolling hills getting out of the village and then a fast flat section across Huasna Road and back along Branch Mill Road through the village and back to the start/finish area. Water stations at mile 3 and at mile 5.
The 5K is an fun, fast out-and-back course of exactly 3.1 miles. Starts and finishes in the Village of Arroyo Grande on Short Street behind the Swinging Bridge and heads out Branch Mill Road to a turn around point just past Coach Road. The course is relatively flat – a couple of slight hills at about 1.2 miles and just past the turn around point. Water station at mile 2.
All participants and volunteers receive refreshments – including our legendary loads of delicious, fresh, locally grown strawberries!

We ran this Memorial Weekend race as a family, with our 5 year old son. It was a great event which is part of the town’s strawberry festival. Very low key but a pretty, undulating course and free strawberries for all runners at the end. No medals apart from age group winners, but I believe there were tshirts we opted out of. (Grateful for the chance to opt out). Lots of fun .
