Join in Burnet for a new & unique race at the Spider Mountain Bike Park! This venue is home to Texas’ first & only lift-served mountain bike park. Hone your climbing & descending trail running skills, experiment with long distance & mountain running equipment, dial in your night time running technique & nutrition, while wrapping your mind around running all night long! This race is a perfect way to get ready for Spring & Summer Tejas Trails events like The Texas Trail Running Festival, Capt’n Karl’s Night Time Trail Series & other long distance mountain events. Everyone that runs gets to experience this extraordinary course & EVERYONE will get to ride the super cool quad chair lift!
The Spider Mountain Trail Run will challenge even the best runners, getting you ready for a spring 50m+ and/or summer mountain event. The course consists of challenging climbs, steep descents & lots of fun banked turns. Runners will ascend & descend the mountain two times per loop.
This race has two unique “twists”. First, runners from the 6hr event will get to take the chair lift one time during their race. Runners from the 9hr & 12hr events will be allowed to take the lift two times during their contest. Second, runners will have a choice on their first mountain top ascent (of each loop) to take a single black diamond trail or a double black diamond trail. Easier & longer vs harder & shorter.
The logistical question each runner will have to ask themselves…”Do I take the lift up the mountain & catch my breath? Or do I take the chair down the mountain & rest my trashed quads?!” Either way each timed runner will get to ride the super cool chair lift & experience the Texas Hill Country & Lake Buchanan from a beautifully rare vantage point.
Then its simple, for timed events… whoever runs the most miles in the least amount of time… wins! Lets be honest though, everyone who toes the line, gets to be outside pushing themselves & hanging out with their tribe… wins every time.
