EVENT DISCONTINUED. From race website: “IMPORTANT NOTICE: We regret to inform you that there will not be a Southwest Half Marathon & 10k this Spring.
On behalf of Mel Diab, founder and Race Director, thank you to our most generous title sponsors, Palos Health and CNB Bank & Trust, dozens of loyal community sponsors and in-kind contributors and the hundreds of dedicated volunteers who have given their time and talent to make the Southwest Half Marathon & 10k successful for the past 11 years.
Our sincere thanks also to the City of Palos Heights, Villages of Palos Park and Palos Hills and the thousands of runners who have made our race possible, many of whom have participated in every race since 2008.
Everyone associated with the event should take great pride in knowing that your support has made it possible for our race to contribute more than $250,000 to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, Prostate Cancer research and the South West Special Recreation Association.
From Mel Diab, Jeff Prestinario and the entire committee, THANK YOU!”

Be a part of the annual Southwest Half Marathon and enjoy one of the Midwest’s finest running events. From pre-race stretching led by experts from Palos Health and Fitness to a post-race celebration complete with live entertainment, the Southwest Half Marathon is “a true runner’s race” offering an extremely fast, flat course with chip timing, pace teams, cash prizes and commemorative medals for all finishers.
The Southwest Half Marathon is considered a runner’s preferred race and that designation has much to do with the beauty and conditions of the course. The route weaves through gorgeous Cook County Forest Preserves, along flat, newly resurfaced pavement in Palos Heights, Palos Park and Palos Hills.
Whether you tackle the Half Marathon or the 10K, a celebration is in order! Runners will enjoy a bash after the race in their honor and in honor of our non-profit beneficiaries, complete with live music, beer and other beverages.
