Course Description
The Snake Run includes a 3.75 mile out-and-back segment and a 1/2 mile loop. Both loops pass the start/finish area which is full of volunteers, spectators and plenty of food and drink.
Participants run as many of these loops as they can in six or three hours. The longest distance wins. If people have the same distance the win goes to the person who finished the last loop first. Only fully completed laps are counted – no partial credit if you are on the course at the end.
Course Map
The Snake Run takes place on some of the smoothest, sandiest trails on Turkey Mountain.
The 3.75 mile ‘loop’ is an out-and-back with one aid station that you will see three times – pass it once about 1 mile in, you’ll see the other side at the turn around point (about 1 mile later), and pass it again on your way to the finish line.
You can run any combination of long and short loops, for example:
- One long loop (3.75 miles) and have a hamburger and beer while you cheer on the other participants. You still go home with a finisher’s medal and have a longish 5K under your belt.
- Three long loops and four short loops for a slightly longer-than-normal Half-Marathon (13.25 miles)
- Four long loops and one short loop for a 25Km
- Seven long loops for a Full Marathon (26.25 miles)
- Eight long loops and two short loops for a 50K
- 12 long loops and five short loops to beat the course record (47 miles) and win $150 (one winner per race)
