“There, is where I’ll dig a mine to my soul.”
This year, HPRS introduces a newly revamped Silverheels Trail Runs experience. Traditionally the Silverheels 100-Mile was held in concert with The Last Call Fifties (50-Mile & 55K), and on the same weekend. The decision was made to move on from the “Last Call” name except for its attribution to the 50-Mile. Moving forward this event is known as The Silverheels Trail Runs.
The main event location was moved out of Fairplay and into the tiny town of Como. Shorter distances were added with a 10-Mile and 18-Mile option. The 55k is now a 60k. The 100-Mile now starts on the other side of Kenosha Pass. A 100k adventure was added to coincide with day 1 of the 100-mile on Friday. With these changes we welcomed over 240 runners to the event in 2024 making it one of our largest Colorado events ever.
The Silverheels Trail Runs take place at an average elevation of over 10,000’, in one of the most visually stunning areas of Colorado’s Front Range. The course features a mixture of single track trails and fire roads, with a few stretches of dirt road; it takes runners through high alpine and sub-alpine meadows loaded with wild flowers, championed by expansive views of the South Park Valley and on a clear day at least 19 different Colorado 14ers. You’ll run through ghost towns, past abandoned mines, awe at the wildflowers in full bloom, and dance under the watchful eye of Silverheels Mountain herself and the ever stunning Milky Way Galaxy. Our 10-Mile and 18-Mile options are run on the gorgeous Gold Dust Trail traveling through massive aspen groves, over many high mountain creeks, through old mining encampments, and along a miners ditch hand dug by those in the late 1800s.
