“Let’s Run Those Wooden Legs Through The Buzzsaw”
Weaving and rambling across the various rolling hills of Staunton State Park, the Sawmill Trail Runs serve as the ultimate test for December running. Runners will enjoy a single loop for 8-Miles, a double loop for 16-Miles, or the triple loop arduous 50k. We’re serving up December #Adversity at its finest.
The Sawmill Trail Runs quickly became an iconic HPRS Fat Ass starting in the winter of 2013. Trail runners flocked to this event to face adverse weather conditions and overcome difficult terrain. These runners returned year after year, because they found something out there on the Ranch, they glimpsed the fullness of their human potential. To better offer this experience to the trail and ultra community at large, we decided to host the latest calendar ultra in Colorado. While turning the event from a Fat Ass to an Official Race, we wanted to maintain the “Fat Ass feel,” all while allowing our members to gain points towards the Fat Ass Series and encouraging everyone to participate in our Adversity Cup. What will the challenges at White Ranch help you discover about yourself?
The Sawmill 50k features all 3 loops of the course in Staunton State Park. 50k runners will start their adventure with the 15.5 mile Purple Loop without aid. After checking in at the aid station, they will follow this loop up with the 8-Mile Blue Loop, check in to aid once more, then finish with the 8-Mile Red Loop. All 50k runners will be required to have mandatory gear on their person at all times. Aid station cutoffs to be able to continue are strict. In the event that permits require us to alter this course, the purple loop will be removed and 50k runners will complete two rounds of the Blue and Red Loops instead.
