Welcome to the Sandhills Trail & Ultra Festival that will be held at this urban State Park in Columbia South Carolina! Sesquicentennial (Sesqui) State Park is located in the heart of Columbia and includes 1400 acres of single track trails, beautiful lake scenes, camping with several kid family actives and facilities. There are 12 complete miles of trails that encompass the park that showcase the Sandhills region.
The Course
The course is a 7.5 mile loop that rolls through several sections north of the main trail but comes back to some beautiful and fast single track trails around the lake. The terrain consist of clean single track trails, wider softer trails, and some paved sections around the lake. The looped course runs through the parking lot so runners will be able to set up a 10 x 10 space for the duration of the event.
Aid Stations
We will have a basic aid station at the start/finish line with tailwind, water, soda, crackers, cookies, chips, pickles, etc. We gladly accept aid station donations of food items that you like to see at races. Our staff is very busy with course marking, timing, packet pickup, and communication with runners, that it does make it hard to prepare some amazing tasty treats in-between laps so feel free to contribute a little slice of heaven if you can! Thank you.
Personal Tent Set Up – Drop Bags
Athletes who are not camping are permitted to have a drop bag or personal tent near the aid station. Please be mindful to place your personal belongings off the course as to not impede the runners, the flow of traffic, or other race participants. The start and finish line loop will serve as the official drop bag area designation. When you are finished with your race please “pack in and pack out” making the host facility look better than you found it.
