RUTS Paradise, a 12hr/6hr/3hr timed event, is proud to have American Senior Communities (ASC) as its presenting sponsor. Paradise, a suburb of Newburgh IN, and just a few miles from Evansville, IN, is home of Friedman Park. Run or walk as much as you like in a 12 hours. If 12 hours is longer than you’d like, then choose the 6 hour, or 3 hour option.
We’re doing something a little different for RUTS in Paradise. All distances begin at 8 AM! Shall we call it Run Under The Sun?
Friedman Park is the site of RUTS Paradise. It’s a new, very nice park. There are several loops, but the course we’ll use is known as the Butterfly loop. When we walked it, our GPS found it to be about 1KM (.62 miles). It is NOT a USATF certified course, but will be very close.
The course is 100% paved, so we’ll have no worries of standing water, or mud if it happens to rain. Route markers and cones will be used to define the course. We will start in a counter-clockwise direction, and change directions every 3 hours. Heated restrooms are available a couple of steps from the loop.
Run, jog, walk, rest, stop and start as much as you’d like. The objective is to see how far you can go; however, you can stop at any time if you’ve reached your goal or if you’ve had enough.
REASONS FOR RUNNING RUTS: Perfect social running event with serious results. Unlike marathons, and non-loop events, you see your friends the entire time, giving you opportunities to run or walk with some runners you’d never get to run with. No steep hills, no trip hazards, no traffic.
This could possibly be the course you’ll set a personal best for whatever distance you run. Knowing that your vehicle is close by, you have the confidence to keep going.
On Site Parking is available in the large parking lot. NOTE: Please do NOT park in the grass. It will not be necessary due to the close proximity of the parking lot to the course.
SET UP: We will be on-site by 6 am, so you can set up beginning any time after then. You can set up a tent, table, or chairs alongside the course. There is plenty of room. This is a good one to bring the family to. You can stop and see them as much as you like. Encourage them to run or walk a few laps with you. They love it, and so do we. We only ask that you carry your trash out with you if at all possible.
DOGS: We love dogs, however they are NOT allowed on the course as part of the race. IF you bring your dog, you will need to keep them on a leash, and out of the way of other runners, or guests.

Overall a great time! Race organizers put on a smooth event with great swag and support. The park was beautiful (if a little windy) and it was nice switching directions every 3 hours. Being able to set up your canopies and gear inches from the course as well as your car was a HUGE bonus! Would definitely recommend this race. There did seem to be some consistent discrepancies in the distance measurements of everyone’s devices versus the official results, but I guess that is to be expected when everyone has a different device!
