Holden Beach is a beautiful coastal island in SE North Carolina with a unique bridge that curves up and over the Intracoastal waterway and unforgettable oceanfront views on the island!
Starting early just as the sun is rising you’ll run over the Intracoastal waterway bridge for a spectacular sunrise before running a few miles on the mainland. As you come back onto the island you run a loop on both the East and the West sides of the island. There are actually hills ON the island in a private gated neighborhood that you’ll be running miles 9-12. Finish back under the bridge on the island. This twisty course shows you the true beauty of Holden Beach during a great time of year to enjoy it!
The 5K is flat, fast & scenic with a course that takes you ocean front and shows you some marsh views on this certified road course.
The unique medal design highlights the beach life! Massive 8″ surfboards for the Half Marathon, 4″ Flip Flop medals for the 5K and a cute surfboard medal for the 1 mile “Turtle Trot”. You will also receive a participant T-shirt at packet pickup! You will certainly want to run the whole series to collect them all.
