Come experience the Run For Green races! The course is in the beautiful small town of Davidson, North Carolina. Be careful, though, it is so charming, you may just want to move! The course winds its way through lovely little neighborhoods with long stretches out in the woods on the greenway where you can take in the serenity of nature. Expect to encounter a hill or two, this is not what we would call a flat course. But, we will do our best to keep you motivated the whole way as you enjoy your run and the spirit of competition!
The charming town of Davidson offers up a relaxing weekend coupled with reaching your running goals. There are wonderful local places to stay including the Davidson Village Inn and other bed and breakfasts. You can carb up for your run at one of the many amazing restaurants from Kindred to Carrburritos to dinner on the water at the North Harbor Club, and many more. After you finish your run, whether it is the 5K, 10K, or half marathon, you should bring your friends or family and take advantage of the wonderful shops and restaurants. There are so many good places to see and restaurants to try that you’ll want to stay for the whole weekend!

Not a bad race but as the headline states, was short by a little more than 4 tenths. Had I been more in tune and not in the zone, I would have continued running well past the finish to make it to 13.1. Nevertheless, I will run this next year and achieve a faster time and will go the full distance.
Couple other issues were the uphill finish (challenging but doable) and the mixing of the events so close together, 5K/10K leaders passing 1/2 marathon participants and the shorter distance escorts on bikes yelling to get out of the way. I only had to deal with the 10K leader passing me right before the 10K turnaround.
Overall, this event was a good day and great training. 🙂

3rd year in a row running this in 2014. A lot of my memories for this one blur with 2012 and 2013, but once again a nice day, great turnout, start and finish in downtown Davidson, run through a greenway and a few neighborhoods. I think Run for Green has been around since 2006, so one of the classic LKN 5k races.

My second year running this. If I recall correctly, I started out way too fast, and I think I was 3rd place half a mile in, before dropping like a hundred places. But I took one minute off last year’s time. Again, it starts downtown near the fork in the road by the Flatiron Kitchen & Taphouse. Huge downhill at mile 1, winds into a greenway and then goes into neighborhoods for the last 1.5 miles before finishing downtown again, near beautiful Davidson College. I think the DC women’s lacrosse team ran it this year, and I beat most of them, including 2 or 3 I was neck and neck with down the final stretch. Not much of a flex, but I was proud of myself then.

This was my first 5k. I battled a lot of side stitches around mile 2 and doubted I could finish, but I kept running. It starts and ends in downtown Davidson, which is scenic. I think there was a mister or two around mile 1.5 this year, as September 15 can still be hot in NC.
