Starting just steps away from historic Fort Cronkhite, a preserved WWII mobilization post, and the dark sands of Rodeo Beach, the Rodeo Valley Trail Run includes steep pitches and lofty downhill sections as it undulates within the beautiful Marin Headlands hills and coastline. Coastal trail and Pirates Cove offer astonishing views of the Pacific Ocean, while glimpses of San Francisco and the Golden Gate bridge appear as you traverse the singletrack of the SCA Trail. As part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the Marin Headlands is rich with wildlife, including foxes, coyotes, and bobcats, along with the occasional mountain lion sighting. With distances of 8K, Half Marathon, 30K, and 50K there is a race to challenge and appreciate all running abilities and a scenery that will make even the most curse-worthy climb more benign.

This was my first time running this race and it did not disappoint. Starting in the Marin Headlands and doing a couple loops (not identical) and seeing so much of the area. Many great views of the Pacific Ocean, as well as of San Francisco. The first loop we were treated with a fog layer that provides some beautiful shots of the tops of the Golden Gate bridge. You are very close to this in this race, so it looks so surreal. The second time around, it was all clear, and you could see all the magnificence of the bridge as well as seeing SF clearly. This race had just over 6,000 feet of elevation gain. The highest point of the race is just over 900′, but you go up and down from 0 to 900 about 6 different times.
Inside Trail puts on amazing events! I would highly recommend this one!
