Rockford Marathon Rockford, IL   DISCONTINUED

Featuring a full 26.2-mile marathon as well as a 13.1-mile half marathon and a 10K run, there’s something for Midwest runners at every skill level. With much of its routes along the scenic Rock River, it’s a sprinter-friendly flat and fast course.

Located a short hour’s drive northwest of Chicago and just 40 minutes south of Madison, Wis., this popular Midwest event offers runners a truly unique experience. As a bonus, there’s also more than $2,500 in cash prizes for the top sprinters in each category.

The event draws participants from 20 states. The course meanders through the city’s Historic District featuring Queen Anne, Greek Rival, Italianate, Dutch Colonial and Tudor style homes. These are just a few of the architectural gems located within eight historic Rockford neighborhoods. The course also skirts the Rock River and through the city’s park system. The marathon’s start/finish line is the main bridge adjacent to the city’s riverfront gem that is Davis Park.

In addition, all participants receive free parking, a finishers medal, a tech shirt and a treat of refreshments in the post-event green space of Davis Park.
