Resurrection Pass Ultra Races

The Resurrection Pass 50 and 100 mile trail races are low key, self-supported runs between Hope and Cooper Landing, Alaska. Resurrection Pass Trail was a route used by early gold miners to access mining claims along Turnagain Arm. The trail is now a National Recreation Trail maintained by the US Forest Service. 

100 Mile runners meet at the Resurrection Pass trailhead in Hope at 2:00PM. From there we will carpool people to the start near the Hope Post Office at the intersection of Palmer Creek Road and the Hope Highway. Dropbags for 100 mile runners will be available at the 41.5 mile point (Res Pass trailhead in Cooper Landing) and at 67.5 miles (Devil’s Pass trailhead).

The first four miles will run on the road to the Resurrection Pass trailhead. Cross the bridge and proceed the entire length of the Resurrection Pass trail down to the trailhead in Cooper Landing. Turn around and ascend back up toward Resurrection Pass. Before reaching the pass, turn right at the Devil’s Pass Trail junction. Proceed down 10 miles to the Devil’s Pass trailhead. Turn around and climb back to the junction to complete the 20 mile out and back. Upon returning to the junction take a right turn and head North to the Resurrection Pass Trailhead in Hope.

50 Mile runners start at the Resurrection Pass Trailhead in Cooper Landing at the designated time and run up near Resurrection Pass before taking a right turn on the Devil’s Pass trail junction. Follow Devil’s Pass down 6 miles. Turn around and climb back to the junction to complete the 12 mile out and back. NOTE THAT RUNNERS WILL NOT DESCEND ALL THE WAY TO THE DEVIL’S PASS TRAILHEAD!!! Upon returning to the junction take a right turn and head North to the Resurrection Pass Trailhead in Hope.

The turnaround point will be manned and marks the one and only “aid” station on the course. Some snacks may be available and small drop bags will be accommodated if there are enough volunteers to pack them in.
