The Resurrection Pass 50 and 100 mile trail races are low key, mostly self-supported runs between Hope and Cooper Landing, Alaska. Resurrection Pass Trail was a route used by early gold miners to access mining claims along Turnagain Arm. The trail is now a National Recreation Trail maintained by the US Forest Service.
100 Mile runners start at the Resurrection Pass Trailhead in Hope on Friday. The first four miles will be run as a short out-and-back along the road, before heading down the trail. Cross the bridge and proceed the entire length of the Resurrection Pass trail down to the trailhead in Cooper Landing, where you will find the 1st checkpoint (mile 42).
Turn around and ascend back up toward Resurrection Pass. Before reaching the pass, turn right at the Devil’s Creek Trail junction. Proceed down 10 miles to the Devil’s Creek trailhead, where you will find the 2nd checkpoint (mile 68.5). Turn around and climb back to the junction to complete the 20 mile out and back. Upon returning to the junction, take a right turn and head north to the Resurrection Pass Trailhead in Hope.
Cutoff: 100 mile runners must cross the finish line in Hope by midnight Saturday night (33 hours).
50 Mile runners start at the Resurrection Pass Trailhead in Cooper Landing on Saturday. The course starts by running up near Resurrection Pass before taking a right turn on the Devil’s Pass trail junction, about mile 16.5. Follow Devil’s Pass down 6 miles. Note that runners will not descend all the way to the Devil’s Pass Trailhead.
The turnaround point will be manned and marks the one and only checkpoint on the course (mile 22.5). Due to the remote nature of this checkpoint, aid will be limited. Turn around and climb back to the junction to complete the 12 mile out and back. Upon returning to the junction, take a right turn and head north to the Resurrection Pass Trailhead in Hope.
Cutoff: 50 mile runners must cross the finish line in Hope by midnight Saturday night (18 hours).
