A Better World Running puts on races at four venues in Southern California—Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Santa Monica and Van Nuys. There events always include a choice of distances—5K, 10K, 15K and Half Marathon in most instances. The courses are on public pedestrian paths along the beach or through public parks so there no concern for vehicle traffic and they are usually out and back loops. The races are limited in size to about 300 total. Best of all, they are extremely affordable, put on by runners and have everything you need and they dont’ give you things you don’t need (like another race t-shirt). A great way to schedule tempo runs at race pace for any intermediate distance if you’re looking for a group to keep you honest but don’t feel like racing an entire half marathon. Overall, these events capture what running is all about—back to basics opportunities to test your fitness level in a competitive event. Highly recommend!
Back-to-Basics Racing at its best
