This is a BYOE (bring your own everything) event. I provide the trail and you bring everything you need to run. Run one 4-mile lap or 24 – or more. Space will be available for your crew to set up camp next to the trail. Pitch a tent the night before and stay until the end.

The trail is over 90% shaded for at least part of the day – and 100% of the night. There are no significant hills, but gently rolling throughout. Elevation gain per loop is just under 300 feet.

The backyard ultra or last one standing is a form of ultramarathon where competitors repeatedly run the distance of 4.167 miles within one hour (100 miles in 24 hours). The race is over when only one runner completes a lap. This runner is the winner and only finisher, all other runners receive a “DNF” (Did Not Finish). There is no predefined end length or time in a backyard ultra, so long as at least two runners complete a loop within an hour the race will continue.
