This metropolis, housing over half-a-million residents, is located in the area of Poland which is developed best. It lays closer to Berlin than to Warsaw. The Poznań half marathon begins and ends at the eastern end of Lake Malta, a popular recreational area situated about four kilometres east of the historic quarter. The route is a rather flat and fast loop through residential and green areas in the eastern and southern parts of the city. The time limit to complete the race is three hours.
