April 2017 Pony Express Marathon Cancelled – We regret to announce that the 2017 Pony Express Marathon (PEM), a Boston-qualified race scheduled for April 30, 2017 has been cancelled.
Ensuring the safety of our runners and the general public during the race was our first priority. Unfortunately, the necessary adjustments for this year’s event would have required an increased level of law enforcement resources that simply could not be met. We thank the cities of Sacramento and West Sacramento for their collaboration on a fantastic inaugural race in 2016.
We would also like to thank the community partners, sponsors and runners who participated in the PEM. Through your generous contributions, over $76,000 was raised for local nonprofits in 2016.
All registrants for the 2017 event will receive full refunds, so please look for an email soon with details or you may email me at [email protected] with questions.
