The Philadelphia Escape Triathlon now combines Sprint and Olympic distance races into one fantastic day of racing! Fairmount Park will once again host this scenic, challenging course – taking participants through historic and picturesque sections of Philadelphia.
Philadelphia Triathlon Course Highlights:
– Experience the only swim in the Schuylkill River.
– Bike past the iconic Rocky Steps.
– Fast & flat course through Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park with beautiful views of historic Boathouse Row.
This exciting course is one of the most historic and picturesque sections of Philadelphia. Martin Luther King Drive, near the base of Black Road – Fairmount Park, complete with statues, trees and grassy fields. The Olympic AquaBike will follow the same race as the Olympic Triathlon.
The 1.5K swim will be a point-to-point race with MLK Blvd. Athletes will swim downstream, staying at the head of the island and heading into the second opening of the Columbia Bridge. The swim will conclude with a hand to the exit, which is in the middle of the transition area.
After exiting the transition area, 40k, bike race through Fairmount Park. Each loop of the bike is flat, fast Martin Luther King and Kelly Drives with several short climbs and descents, including Lemon Hill.
After exiting the transition area, King Martin Luther Drive will start the race. Athletes will then head to the front of the Art Museum, one of the city’s most famous landmarks, where they will turn back and head back to Martin Luther King Drive and make a turn to the front two. Once the second lap is completed and the event ends. The race will be extremely well marked for every mile.
