Petrified Forest Marathon & Half Marathon

Run where no marathon has gone before… through “The Petrified Forest National Park”. Through an exclusive partnership between the City of Holbrook and the National Park Service we are able to provide runners with this opportunity.

Your journey will take you past petrified wood that are millions of years old and through the majestic Painted Desert. Come run and experience one of the most unique marathons in the world. The Petrified Forest Marathon takes place on a scenic, point-to-point course during the cool fall air. It starts on the north end of the Petrified Forest National Park and, goes straight south winding through the park to the south end. The road through the Petrified Forest National Park is 26 miles long and is ideal for a Marathon. The course has lots of small hills and has a net altitude loss of about 400 Feet from the start to the finish. Their will be 15 aid stations along the route.
