Come Run Sulphur, Louisiana! The Sulphur High School Cross Country team & Race Pace Multisport, LLC invites you to #RunSulphur this February in Sulphur, Louisiana!
It all started with running for Jimbo in 2010. A group of novice runners called the “SPAR Stars” were training for an out of town half marathon when one of their husbands was diagnosed with cancer. Rather than traveling out of town to run, the group of runners decided to “Run for Jimbo”. The half marathon raised money for medical expenses for Jimbo’s cancer treatment.
Sulphur’s first half marathon was supported within the community and is now a fundraiser for others. The Sulphur High Cross Country teams benefit from the half marathon & 10 kilometer races. The Sulphur High Cross Country team lines the route to provide “splits” and motivation along the route.
The 1 kilometer race proceeds benefit a cancer warrior. This year’s cancer warrior is TBD.
Southwest Louisiana (SWLA) is known as a Youth Sports Capital as a result of quality facilities and providing athletes and coaches with top-notch experiences on and off the field. The Park to Park races will take you to through some of these facilities and passed historical buildings such as Henning Cultural Center, West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital, and the old City Courthouse.

– Organization was non notable, thus I’d say it went smoothly. We did run day packet pick up. Deducted 1 “shoe” because the run ended up being 12.95 per my watch and multiple others commented it was short.
– Swag was simple. Nice light weight t-shirt, small wooden medal and a couple little things (pic uploaded). Post race I can’t really comment on since we were in a time crunch, so all I can comment on is the strawberry & chocolate milk, granola bars, and sports drink. Site said jambalaya was there, but I didn’t see any )
– road support was almost non existent. There were police at major intersections, and folks at some of the turns. They appear to be high school students. Other than that not much of a cheer squad.
-over all it was a small (52 Half marathon runners) , local run. It’s not one I would travel for unless I’m in the general vicinity (ie I traveled 2 hours bc I was always out this way). But I like supporting local events. And I really like the unique medal.
