This race, unlike the companion Altamont race as the second half of this back-to-back HM weekend, is worth doing again. It is a scenic course, with waterfalls, dams, remnants of old buildings. It’s not an easy course, but I enjoyed it.
There are a couple of sections that are pretty steep, so it’s not an easy course by any stretch. And with Greenville nearby, it’s an easy decision to go race and spend the weekend in a nice small town. We stayed in Greenville, so I cannot comment on any hotels or camping closer to the race location, but Greenville isn’t too far away anyway.
