The Papa John’s 10 Miler is known for its fast, rolling course and the winding hill in Iroquois Park. Elite athletes and amateurs alike annually target the race for its potential to generate personal and national records. It is a perfect prep race for the Kentucky Derby Marathon and MiniMarathon!
The 10 Miler course begins at Third Street, near Central Avenue and historical Churchill Downs. The first three miles are fairly flat. The winding course continues down Southern Parkway and through the hill inside the Park. The rich history of Iroquois Park takes the runners on a winding route around the open space amphitheater, passing the newly restored playground and fountain, while enjoying overlooks of the city. The course travels back Southern Parkway to Third Street, then crosses Central avenue overpass. The runners reach the finish line in the Bronze Lot of Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.
Family and friends can watch all the runners finish on the Video Board at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, capturing all the excitement as runners cross the finish line. Runners will then enjoy all the post-race festivities, including piping hot Papa John’s pizza, Heine Brothers Coffee, fruit and energy bars from ValuMarket, and much more.

The Papa John 10 miler is flat except for about 3 miles through Iroquois Park which has a couple of big hills. You finish on the football field at Cardinal Stadium. Shirts are nice and you get a decent medal too. Lines for postrace food is crazy though and I didn’t want to wait that long. Very popular race for locals.
