The Glacier Ridge Ultramarathons and Trail Race (GRT) is growing into a full race series. Pain in Moraine returns in September at Moraine State Park’s South Shore, bringing back the 24-hour, 10K loop challenge for another round. Get ready to see how many laps you can stack up in year two! The route will hit the Pleasant Valley, Hilltop, and Sunken Garden trails. Each loop is an almost perfect 10k (6.2 miles) with approximately 723′ of vertical gain.
Competitors can arrive at any point during the event to log their loops. If runners wish to log some loops, leave the event, and return at a later time to do more, then please communicate your intentions to the RD.
There is plenty of room near the start finish to setup a “base camp”. Tents and canopies are permitted and should be tethered appropriately.
CAMP FIRES are not permitted. There will be a couple propane heaters near the main tent overnight.
ALCOHOL is not permitted as this event takes place within a state park.
The main tent will have a fully stocked aide station. Hot food will be available (toasted cheese, cheese quesadilla, ramen noodles, hot dogs, pizza). A mini aid station will be set up at the halfway point, stocked with water and Gatorade and available to runners throughout the entire event.
Crew
This is a loop challenge. Crews can offer assistance to their runner(s) at the start/finish and at the 3.5 mile water station. Parking is limited at the water station. Parking on the road is not allowed.
Crews are responsible for their own food and drinks. Race management, sponsors, and volunteers are not responsible for lost or injured crews. Crews must abide by posted speed limits. You will have more than enough time to get from one aid station to the next ahead of your runner!
