This timed run is part of the larger Orange County Heart Walk benefiting the American Heart Association. Angel Stadium is always a great venue for a run with ample free parking and a chance to be near the field.
I paid the day of the event at that point it was $40 and they accepted cash, check or credit. The Run was at 7:30am (the separate walk was at 9am).
Bizarrely, they did not issue T-Shirts until after the run. The person said :That way you don’t have to carry it”. I responded “I supposed wearing would be an option”.
The Run itself took place entirely in the parking lot with 2 loops. No street running (good) or access to the field (with is being readied for the new season – you can view it when you use the restrooms). The water station passes out actual bottles – easier for the walk that starts later but not handy for a run.
If you are into finishing medals (I am not) the one you get here is plain and without any event info. They have quite a few to hand out to all the walkers so it is understandable. My #FreeBanana and water after the run were a bit more difficult to find – they turned up in the middle of the expo. The expo had stuff for kids (Go through the Aorta into the bouncy house!) and many medical centers saying Hi (with only one or two actually dispensing any heart care advice.
It was wonderful to see one of my favorite local bands, the Fenians, here and playing at 6:30 in the morning!
