The NYC Trail Mix is a Redpoint ultra trail event presented by and benefitting the Greenbelt Conservancy. With over 35 miles of trails, Staten Island will surprise anyone who has never got off the SIE to explore.
We’ve put together 16+ mile course with minimal road crossings and lots of single track. Run the most remote sections and trails of New York City and see some of its history that nature has recovered.
Benefitting the Greenbelt Conservancy!
None of this would be possible without the hard work of the Greenbelt Conservancy staff and volunteers. They continue to maintain and develop these unique trails year after year.
Course
The course winds its way through the greenest spaces of New York City. Passing through some unique locations like Blood Root Valley, High Rock Park, La Tourette Park, and the Field of Dreams.
50 Mile Course: 3 x 16.6 Mile Loop
50K Course: 2 x 15.5 Mile Loop
Half Marathon Course: 1 x 13.1 Mile Loop
Aid Stations
There are 3 aid stations: High Rock, La Tourette, and Nature Center.
High Rock is approx 5 Miles into the loop. NO crews, spectators or drop bags at this location.
La Tourette is approx 11 Miles into each loop. Crews/Spectators and Drop Bags allowed.
Nature Center is in the same location as the Start/Finish. A great location for cheering and support.
The Half Marathon will have 2 aid stations.
The 50K will visit 5 aid stations.
The 50 Mile will visit 8 Aid Stations.
Amazing volunteers will treat you to some great food at each of the stations. We typically like to have Skratch at our events for a drink. There will be the normal ultra running staples, like PB&J, pretzels, chips, some candy and fruit… and of course broth and perogies. And don’t discount the possibility of quesadillas, wraps or bacon either … we do take requests and are happy to try to accommodate as best we can. After all – there are some bodegas pretty close.

This race takes place on the trails of the Greenbelt Conservancy on Staten Island, an oasis of 2,800 acres of protected parks and wooded areas. What a wonderful surprise to discover this race, and to run it!
This is a very runnable course, with just a few steep climbs and rooty areas that require careful footing. And they mark it so well, even I had trouble missing turns, although I nearly succeeded once.
For those of you who care about awards, only the top three in each race get one. As with many races today, they consider this an “endurance event” and their goal is to help you achieve yours, whether that’s competing, trying for a PR, or just finishing. This was my first ultra in 10 months, so mine was just to run strong and steady, which I did.
Good selection of post-race food and drinks, and the aid stations are good, too.
I can also recommend the Harbor House B&B for a place to stay, and J’s on the Bay as a place to have your pre-race and post-race dinners.
