Tempting you to quit & drink a beer, but hoping you persevere…or not. Whatever… quitter. #pushyourlimits #drinkgoodbeer
Are you a quitter?
Probably not. But our job is to get in your head and yours is to keep running. Don’t quit.
Nocterra Brewing and Columbus Running Company invite you to take on the toughest running event in all of Powell, Ohio. Sure there are only 26 feet of climbing per lap, but our emcee will be giving you tons of other reasons to stop. Get thirsty? Quit and have a beer. Stopped by a train? Turn around and head to the beer garden. Very slightly fatigued and not quite feelin’ it? Beer! The course starts and ends outside Nocterra’s beer garden. We have distances from 1/8th-marathon to 6-hour ultra and we encourage you to sign up for the distance that will push you to your limits. How many laps can you handle on our 3.2-mile course?
Please note: all participants must be complete with their event by 1 PM. Any starter not finished by 1 PM will be designated a “Quitter”. This means that the ultra-marathon and marathon have a 6-hour time limit, the 1/2-marathon has a 4-hour time limit, the 1/4-marathon has a 2-hour time limit, and the 1/8-marathon has a 1-hour time limit. There is no early start option for any event.
Pick your challenge
Should you take on your first marathon with a support team cheering you on in the beer garden? Or, just one lap and then a beer? Ultra-minded? See how many laps you can complete in under 6 hours. You can even quit at the start line! No matter what, there’s a beer for you when you’re done.
What do you get for finishing? A 16 oz. finishers mug full of Nocterra beer with $5 refills of the official race day beer. However, if you QUIT you get a much BIGGER 20 oz. QUITTER’S MUG that says “I Quit” in big letters, with $4 refills of the official race day beer.
This race is all about the afterparty! Invite your friends & family to cheer you on from the beer garden during the race then hang out with them afterward.
Also included is a high-quality, one-of-a-kind Quitter’s Run t-shirt.
The course is a mix of streets, bike paths, and sidewalks.
Don’t like the course conditions? We don’t care. Just quit.
Event Alcohol Policy
This is pretty simple: “yes,” we’re starting and finishing at a brewery. And “yes,” there’s beer when you finish. But there is no beer on the course. If, during the course of your event, you drink alcohol: your race is over. Alcohol is only part of the after-party, not the running/walking event itself. Thank you for your cooperation.
Spectators are encouraged and will be able to consume alcohol in the Nocterra beer garden throughout the event. Spectator alcohol consumption will also be available within the City of Powell’s DORA (Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area) limits after 11 AM. Find a good spot on the route within the DORA limits, and encourage (or discourage, it is the Quitter’s Run after all…) your friends and family!
Awards
Each separate race (ultra, marathon, etc) will have top finisher awards for the top three male and female finishers.
Safety
The loop is a mixture of Powell streets, bike paths, and sidewalks. We will have arrow signs all throughout the course, but at all “neighborhood entrance” crossings please note that vehicles will have the right of way. There are also two railroad crossings that may affect your run and make you think about quitting! One shortly after the start line (an easy walk back to the finish to quit!), and one near mile 2 (where a “Quitter’s Shuttle” will be ready to take you back if you’re ready to pack it in). Please keep your eyes open at all times and yield to traffic when present. Please keep your eyes open at all times and yield to traffic/trains when present. The instruction of all public safety officials, race staff, and volunteers is final and for your safety.
Please note: your time will not be “paused” while waiting for any vehicular or train traffic. You are welcome to QUIT at any time!
