What is the No Man’s 50K Challenge? Well, it is exactly as it sounds. It is a trail running endurance challenge for Women! Hence the name: No Man’s 50K Challenge. Okay, it is a slight play on words. Men, husbands, boyfriends, children, family and significant others will be part of the challenge, just not in a running capacity. The co-race directors for this race and series will be Katie and Zoe Papadopoulos.
The creations are born out of simplicity. Our idea for a Women’s only trail race and series started about three years ago. Our eldest daughter Katie wanted to know there were so many men in trail races and said “There are not enough women in your races.” A simple observation made by a kid who has been attending ultras since she was an infant. Dad responds, “Yeah, I know.” Katie answers, “Well, let’s make one and I can do your job.”
And so an adventure for the ages begins!
The No Man’s 50K will be a 100% Women’s trail race. The course will feature two loops of 15+ miles. The run will start and finish at the Telegraph Road Pavilion at Prince William Forest Park. Runners will have a 9.5 hour cut off, with an intermediate time cut of 4 hours and 30 minutes for the completion of the first loops. There will be two aid stations on each loop, with a third being located at the Start/Finish area. The aid stations will be at the intersection of Black Top and Burma Road (approximate mile 6.5) and at the end of Black Top Road, next to the Turkey Run Education Center (TREC) (approximate mile 11.0). Finally, the start/finish area will be a tertiary aid station for the first loop and finish area . Only race personal will be allowed at the two aid station locations on the course. Violation = Disqualification. This is to limit vehicle congestion within the Park to only essential event personal for safety measures and permit requirements.
