Many think that the Steamboat Marathon and Half Marathon are the only times to race longer distances on road in Steamboat Springs. Not so! We have another one here for you! The Mountain Madness Half Marathon joins the Hayden Cog and 10K at 10,000 feet as one of the oldest races in Steamboat Springs and the Running Series. The Mountain Madness course will take runners along beautiful county roads with sweeping views of the Ski Area and the Yampa River, and is held over 4th of July weekend.
The 10K is an out and back on a relatively flat (for Steamboat!) course with one short steep hill as you make your way to the turnaround. The Half Marathon follows the same course as the 10K to begin, heading south on River Road paralleling the Yampa River for a time before turning right and heading uphill through Dakota Ridge. The half marathon course then continues on a rolling hilly road and circles back along River Road with fabulous views of the Steamboat Ski area and the Yampa Valley.
