Paved county roads, the Katy Trail and a mix of hardcore and hilly gravel roads. If you are looking for a rewarding challenge then this run is for you!
Departing from the Off Track Events Headquarters on the top of the bluff in Rocheport, this run is a true country combination of experiences. All distances start with a rolling and scenic 1 mile stretch down the hill on County Hwy BB into the historic town of Rocheport. The full distance and Marathon runners will head out on the long route through gravel roads surrounding the Davisdale Conservation area eventually meeting back up on the half marathon course outside of Rocheport. All long routes will run through the Rocheport tunnel before an extended stretch on the Katy Trail. Expect fast times on this flat section of the course mixed with amazing views of the Missouri River, scenic bluffs and natural beauty. Enjoy the tranquility while you can as a major hill climb awaits before the final stretch of the course before the finish line. Finisher medals must be earned!
The Mighty Missouri Relay can be run solo or with up to 6 team members! There will be 8 team meet up spots on the route that team members will be able to both pass the torch (team slapstick wristband) to the next member as well as be able to hang out and pass some time while waiting for the next team member to catch up. The distances between checkpoints are 3 miles to 8 miles in distance. Pick and choose what routes members will tackle! Relay options are also available in the marathon distance with multiple team meet up options. Team checkpoints will be located in Huntsdale, Rocheport, Franklin, Boonville and in the middle of nowhere!
At the conclusion of the run course everyone will be rewarded with music, free drinks and donuts, a finisher medal, a bonfire party and well earned satisfaction for finishing a true Mid-Missouri country endurance run! A food truck will be on-site for those who want to get lunch at the conclusion of the event and a tail-gating atmosphere will be set up for family and friends who come to encourage this crazy running community.

The Mighty Missouri Relay was an inaugural running event consisting of 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Full Marathon, 45 mile solo, and 45 mile relay. Organizers & follow through were top notch as the courses & distances were so widely varied. Kudos to the race director and his Team for an outstanding effort.
Now on to the course itself: I participated in the half marathon and this course was indicative of the more extended distances. Gravel roads, asphalt roads, the Katy Trail with chat, and towards the very end, a dirt road followed by grass to the finish line. Hills (and some were steep) were plentiful and tested one’s stamina. Scenery was second to none. Beautiful farmland, country estates, scenic Missouri River complete with towering bluffs above, wooded areas, and of course the quaint town of Rocheport, MO. The 45 mile course also went through the larger town of Booneville. Swag was a bit different this race. Each runner received a pair of donut socks, a truckers cap, stickers and a myriad of other fun stuff. What I liked was the finisher’s ‘medals’ which were cut from a local cedar tree and had a leather string attached. If you’re used to running in half or full marathons, I highly recommend this event. If this may be a first long distance run, then some hill training should be on order well before the actual day of this run. I’ve been running for 25+ years and I put in a couple of days worth of hill training beforehand. I am so glad I signed up for this. It was so much fun, and reminded me of when I first started out running many years ago.
