This is a fun 10K on the campus of Western Kentucky University. Be warned- the mascot of the university is the Hilltopper. Its called that for a reason.
10K has very little flat portions. Its just about all hills. The first mile is mostly downhill, so its easy to go out quite fast. But as soon as the first mile is done, there is a half mile segment that is uphill. From there, its just up and down the rest of the way.
The last hill ends at about the five and a half mile point. Then you’re cruising through campus and downhill at the end into the football stadium and finishing on the field.
It was nice when we started but not cool. And it was hot in the end, which made the hills tougher.
I would do it again but would strategize more now that I know the course.
There were finisher medals at the end which we didn’t realize so that was a nice surprise.
