It’s time to party, because the inaugural Margarita Half & 5K (formerly the Portsmouth Half & 5K) is coming to Portsmouth, NH this May! Choose from the half marathon or 5K, then get ready to celebrate your accomplishments in style! After the run all participants will be treated to a complimentary margarita or Dos Equis beer, delicious burritos, and some stylish swag!
Unlike other races, your registration for The Margarita Half Marathon & 5K includes a lot of awesome stuff! Check it out:
– Quarter Zip Shirt: all runners get a moisture-wicking quarter-zip long sleeve shirt!
– Finisher’s Medal: Half marathon runners commemorate your finish with a custom Margarita Half medal.
– Craft Beer & Margaritas: Celebrate your finish with complimentary refreshing margaritas and ice-cold Dos Equis beer!
So jump into Spring on this beautiful rural course that runs on the outskirts of Portsmouth and through the historic towns of Greenland and Newington!
The Margarita Half features a gently rolling, scenic, and relatively easy course. The race course is revised slightly this year. The new course starts at the Lowes parking lot and makes a loop around a Portsmouth avenue neighborhood. Then it heads out onto Newington Road with views of the Great Bay Estuary and pastoral farm fields. As you cross the town border into Newington, you experience the serenity of the Great Bay National Wildlife preserve before coming into the village area where you run by centuries-old stone walls and cemeteries. At the turn around you will be treated to views of the Newington Historic district complete with the Old Town Hall. Next you will high five your friends on the out and back section and retrace your steps back to the finish. The 5K starts in the same place as the half marathon, and both races run together until 3.1 miles where the 5K finishes at the Portsmouth Mercedes Benz.
