The Mare Island Half Marathon, 10K and 5K courses meander through natural and historic sections of the island. The Half Marathon course will take you along the historic naval yard on the east side of the island, to the highest point of Mare Island for beautiful panoramic views of the Bay, Mt. Diablo, and Mt. Tamalpais. It will then run you down by the old Admiral housing and out to the Mare Island portion of the San Pablo Bay trail on the western side of the island. The 10K will take you by the old Admiral housing and the San Pablo Bay Trail before heading to the finish line. The 5K race will run by the old Admiral housing before heading to the finish line. All courses are still going through the approval process and some tweaks may be made, but the overall feel for the race should not alter too much. Parts of the run through the San Pablo Bay Trail are on unpaved compacted trails.
All participants will receive a t-shirt and finishers medal. Awards will be available for Male and Female of every category. We expect to have categories of <19, 20-29,30-39,40-49 and 50+.

I liked the beer and ambiance after. It was my first race, and I live in Vallejo. You’re running on the old base so that you could encounter some minor obstacles, and, for the 2019 run, it’s pretty much completely paved. This was my first race in probably 20 years, and I just began running about 10 months before this.

There were only a few aid stations, no bananas or other race foods, and just warm water. There was a loop that was not marked and a lot of people missed the turn. This was a very badly organized race and I will not be repeating it. Last time I did a race with this Irecreate company was last year and their race wasn’t marked well either and I ended up running .75 miles more. I do not recommend this race!
