The March Madness Half Marathon course is a certified USATF course: IL-14001-JW, starting and finishing at Cary-Grove High School. The half marathon course has been dubbed the most challenging in Northern Illinois and an excellent training race for spring marathons. All miles will be accurately marked with a sign marker. Water and a performance drink will be provided at approximate 2.5 mile intervals and at the finish line.
Gels will be distributed to runners near mile 7. There will be Chronomix timed finish line. Washrooms on course at 3, 4, 5, 7, 9 and 10 miles. Brick washrooms at conservation area will also be open. Strollers, bikes, roller blades and dogs are not allowed on the course. Headphones are not recommended as roads are open to traffic. Course will close with a 3 hour time limit at 11:35 AM. All runners that do not make the 8 mile mark by 10:35 AM (15 minute pace) will be turned early for their finish. We reserve the right to end the race early if bad weather threatens the safety of the runners. No Refunds!
The Hillstriders Club will award scholarship money to three or more graduating seniors from a McHenry County high school in memory of Fritz Kauffman. The March Madness Half Marathon will offer 25 VIP entries which will be available as charitable donations to the Scholarship. VIP entries receive special parking passes, private restrooms and pre and post race refreshments in a private VIP lounge. VIP entries cost $125 and will be used for our scholarship program.
