The Malad Valley loop. One loop. Four ways to run it.

The inaugural Malad Valley Marathon is a fast, scenic Idaho marathon through the wide skies and quiet dirt-and-pavement roads of the Malad Valley. All distances share this same scenic valley loop: half soft dirt, half quiet pavement, framed by mountains on every side. The full marathon runs the loop twice, the half runs it once, and the 5K and 10K do out-and-backs along it. Enjoy crisp early-fall air at 4,500′ elevation. Always the second Saturday of September. 

Welsh pioneers built Malad City on the floor of a high mountain valley in 1864. A hundred and sixty years later, it is still a small town of singers, ranchers, story-tellers, and (now) runners.
