Join for a spectacular day of running through peak fall colors in the heart of the Elk Mountains. Run, hike, or walk the 25k Lead King Loop, a breathtaking course that winds through Lead King Basin, past the iconic Crystal Mill, and through the historic Town of Crystal. Or take on the 8-Mile Quarry Climb, a scenic out-and-back route along the Yule Marble Quarry Road, surrounded by the majestic Maroon Bells-Snomass and Ragged Wilderness areas.
After the race, enjoy a homemade Slow Groovin’ BBQ lunch, a cold beer (21+) and a fun awards ceremony.
Bring the whole family! Little ones can join in the fun with a kids race around Beaver Lake, a safe and exciting way for young runners to be part of race day.
The 25K dirt road course starts at Thompson Park in the quaint and historic mining town of Marble. Rounding Beaver Lake, you will climb 2,900 vertical feet over approximately 4 miles into beautiful Lead King Basin. Here you will traverse at 10,000 feet before rolling down past waterfalls, through the old mining town of Crystal and pass the famous 110-year-old Crystal Mill to then climb out of the river valley and scream back down Daniel’s Hill to the finish line.
The Quarry Climb is an 8-mile race that begins and ends at the Marble Children’s Park. Participants follow a course through town, Millsite Park, and up and back down Quarry Road.
The Lead King Loop is 100% volunteer staffed and all proceeds benefit the Marble Charter School.
