This family-friendly event at Sand Hollow Reservoir has something for everyone! Sandstone landscapes and mountain ranges make this a scenic and beautiful race destination. This Kokopelli endurance festival features an Olympic & Sprint Triathlon, Duathlon, 5K and 10K. Travel to southern Utah and you’ll be minutes away from tourist attractions like Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, and even Moab. This venue location makes for an unforgettable weekend getaway.
This counter-clockwise rectangular swim course starts and finishes at the west boat ramp of the Sand Hollow Reservoir. Kayaks, sea doos, boats, and lifeguards will be in the water to support all athletes. If you need a rest, while in the water, waive your arms or simply swim to the nearest kayak. You can hold on to any vessel without penalty as long as there is no forward propulsion. If you need to cut your swim short for any reason, let the water support team member know, and they will bring you in to shore.
For the bike course, all Sprint athletes will exit Transition at the South end, ride to the main road and make a TIGHT left-hand turn. (You will have accelerated quite a bit at this point, so please be safe making this turn.) About 3.3 miles down this road you will hit “The Hill”, which will last less than a mile but is about a 6% grade. Shortly after a right on 3000 S you will hit the turnaround point where you will then return the way you came. There will be one aid station and both cattle guards will be completely covered.
All Olympic athletes will exit the park and turn left on Sand Hollow Road. There will be road closure to traffic on the majority of the bike course. Athletes will continue on 3000 S and turn right at the end of the road onto S 1100 W (mile marker 7.5). You will ride for approximately 2.6 miles south on S 1100 W before turning around and heading back the same way you came. There will be an aid station near mile marker 5 and 15.
The scenic run course is out and back. Run alongside the Dam for approximately 1 mile then continue on the paved road to your turnaround, then head back the same way you came. There will be an aid station at each mile marker. Remember to stay on the water-side of Lake Side Drive because the road will not be closed to traffic.
