The Kinvara Rock and Road 3/4 Marathon is new and replaces the Full Marathon of previous years. The race starts and finishes at the quay area in the village. This will be an ideal training run and preparation for anyone running a marathon in April or May, such as London, Manchester, Paris, Connemara, Limerick, Belfast, Brighton, Rotterdam, Milan, Boston, etc.
The Half Marathon starts and finishes at the quay in Kinvara and runners will complete a lap of the village before they cross the N67 and head out on the course. The early miles are a series of gentle uphill sections leading to the first major right hand turn and the most scenic part of the course.
The 10K starts and finishes at the quay in Kinvara and heads west through the town along the N67 for approximately 2.5K, when the race will turn left. This first section is the quickest part of the course with the best road surface.
The N67 is the main road through Kinvara and this will remain open throughout the race with traffic being managed at key junctions. Other than that the 3/4 marathon route will be closed to traffic.
Kinvara is a beautiful seaside village located in south Co. Galway. Overseas visitors who are arriving from Shannon or Dublin Airports should allow a minimum of 60 mins (Shannon) and 2 hr 35 mins (Dublin) to travel to Kinvara.
