The Kennebec Mountain Run is a tough, scenic 15-ish mile trail run through the La Plata Mountains, just west of Durango in southwest Colorado. Some people like to say that KMR is a perfect tune-up for the Imogene Pass Run, but really, Imogene is a perfect cool-down after Kennebec, and a wonderful introduction to the La Platas!

Test your alpine running skills on this rugged course that features 3,100 feet of elevation gain, topping out at 12,200 feet through Kennebec Pass! Enjoy sweeping views of the Animas River and Dolores River valleys, and alpine wildflowers in full bloom.

The Kennebec Mountain Run alternates directions each year:
Clockwise during ODD years (2025, 2027, etc.)
Counterclockwise during EVEN years (2026, 2028, etc.)
