2020 EVENT CANCELED, offering virtual option.
***
The Keep Pounding 5K will begin at Levine Cancer Institute and proceed up Morehead Street toward the stadium. The race will then turn onto Mint Street and go into the stadium through the North Gate Entrance and up the ramps to the 500 level and back down. The race will exit out of the South Entrance and will end on the Panthers Practice Field.
Before checking in on race day, all runners are required to meet a fundraising minimum of $51 commemorating Sam Mills (#51), who lost his battle with cancer. Fundraising suggestions and sample letters are available upon registration to assist participants in meeting this requirement.
The Keep Pounding Campaign, founded in 2003 by the Carolina Panthers and Carolinas HealthCare Foundation, encourages cancer survivors and their loved ones to always “Keep Pounding” in the fight against cancer.
We encourage all runners to not only meet the minimum, but exceed it as 100% of the money raised at the event benefits pediatric and adult cancer programs at Levine Children’s Hospital and Levine Cancer Institute.
This race can only accommodate 1,000 participants and typically sells out by the beginning of May.
To protect our participants’ safety and provide an optimal race experience (due to the race course), participants with children in strollers will not be able to enter the stadium for that brief portion of the 5K. They will instead be directed, with signage and by volunteers, to take a slightly different route to the Panther’s practice field for the finish. If using a stroller, you will start in the same place as all other runners/walkers, but you will not enter the stadium.
