Experience the natural beauty of the scenic Kaiwi Coast at your own pace!
Join for a sunrise journey along the famous Kaiwi Coast scenic highway on the island of O‘ahu, Hawai‘i. This community oriented event is a 4-mile run or walk and the only pedestrian race sanctioned for this area.
The Kaiwi Coast Run & Walk begins at approximately 6:45 am. with the rising of the sun over the Kaiwi Channel, a Hawaiian oli (chant) and the blowing of the pū (conch shell horn). Participants start at Awāwāmalu (Sandy Beach Park) and continue around the Kaiwi Coast, passing Halona Blow Hole and Hanauma Bay, following Kalanianaole Hwy into Hawaii Kai and finishing just about 4 miles later at the Hui Nalu Canoe Club halau on the shores of Maunalua Bay.
Limited to 3,000 participants!
Participants receive a souvenir glass fishing float, race t-shirt, and goodie bag. We do our best, but T-shirt size is not guaranteed. Goodie bag items are donations and are available at packet pickup while supplies last.
At the finish line there is juice, water, and snacks, including Kamehameha Schools’ famous brownies, and the opportunity to meet community organizations sharing their projects.
Proceeds benefit Hui Nalu Canoe Club programs and support the mission of the Ka Iwi Coalition, Livable Hawaii Kai Hui, and other Maunalua community groups. Hui Nalu Canoe Club is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.

So scenic! This was a super fun race. The only negative was the big up hill portion (the first half of the race or so), but the second half was all down hill or flat, so that helped. You are running in view of the ocean for almost the entire race.
